IPTV EPG sources: where TV guide data comes from

Where IPTV guide data comes from, how to add an EPG (XMLTV) link, how to fix channels without listings and how to set time shift correctly.

IPTV EPG Sources: Where TV Guide Data Comes From

Quick answer

Your IPTV provider supplies the guide data, usually loaded automatically with an Xtream Codes login or as an XMLTV link for M3U. If some channels show no listings, refresh the guide, check the channel's guide ID, and adjust the time shift if listings are off by an hour.

The TV guide is a separate data feed. Knowing where it comes from makes it easy to fix.

Your provider's guide

With Xtream Codes, the player fetches the guide by itself. With M3U, paste the guide (XMLTV) link in the player's EPG settings.

Add an EPG link

  • TiviMate:Settings > EPG > Add EPG source.
  • Kodi: PVR IPTV Simple Client, EPG settings.
  • Jellyfin:Live TV > TV Guide Data Providers > XMLTV.

Fixing gaps

  • Refresh the guide.
  • Check time zone and time shift.
  • Some channels have no listings available; that is normal.
