Install TiviMate
TiviMate is designed for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. Install it from Google Play or the Fire TV Appstore. It is not built for phones or Apple devices.
Add your playlist
- Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist.
- Select Xtream Codes (recommended) or Enter URL for an M3U link.
- Enter the server address, username and password exactly as issued.
- Check the channel summary, then press Next and Done.
Load the TV guide
With an Xtream login the guide (EPG) is added automatically. If some channels show no programmes, open Settings, then EPG, and update it. Set the update interval to every 12 or 24 hours. More in how to fix the IPTV guide.
Organise favourites and groups
- Press and hold OK on a channel and choose Add to favourites.
- Hide channel groups you never watch in Settings, Playlists, Manage groups.
- Reorder channels in your favourites list so the ones you watch most come first.
Free version or Premium?
The free version handles one playlist and the essentials. The paid Premium tier, activated through the TiviMate Companion app, adds features such as multiple playlists, favourites management and catch-up support. Most live TV viewers find Premium worth it if they use TiviMate every day.
TiviMate problems and fixes
- "Authorization failed": re-type the login, watching capitals and spaces.
- No guide for some channels: update the EPG and check the time zone setting.
- Freezing: raise the buffer in Settings, Player, and use Ethernet; see IPTV buffering fixes.
TiviMate with IPTV Trends
TiviMate is one of the players IPTV Trends recommends for television, and its Xtream login gives you channel groups by country plus the full guide. Plans are on the IPTV Trends pricing page.
First things to set after adding the playlist
- Settings, Appearance: choose a layout and font size you can read from the sofa.
- Settings, EPG: set the update interval to 12 or 24 hours.
- Settings, Playlists, Manage groups: hide the countries and categories you never watch.
- Build a favourites group with your most-watched channels and set it as the start group.
Player settings for smooth playback
| Setting | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Decoder | Hardware |
| Buffer size | Medium or large if streams stutter |
| Auto frame rate | On, if your TV supports it |
| Stream reconnect | On |
Remote control shortcuts
- Press OK while watching to open the channel list.
- Press left to open the side menu with groups and the guide.
- Long-press OK on a channel for favourites, hiding and info.
- Use the channel up and down buttons to zap within the current group.
About the Companion app
TiviMate Premium is bought and managed through a separate TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone. One Premium account can be used on several of your own devices, so you only need to buy it once for the household.
Back up your setup
TiviMate can back up your settings, favourites and playlists to a file. After spending time on groups and favourites, make a backup in Settings so you can restore it on a new device or after a reset.
