IPTV black screen: 9 fixes that work
IPTV channel shows a black screen? Work through these 9 fixes in order: test another channel, switch the player engine, lower resolution, clear cache and more.

Quick answer
A black screen on IPTV is usually the player, not the subscription. Test a second channel, switch the app's video decoder or player engine, lower the device's output resolution, clear the app cache, update the app, and restart the device and router. If every channel is black, check your login and connection.

Start by finding out how wide the problem is. One black channel and every black channel have different causes.
One channel or all channels?
| What you see | Most likely cause |
|---|---|
| One or two channels black | That stream, or a codec your device cannot decode |
| Every channel black | App, connection, login or device output |
| Black with sound | Video decoder or HDR mismatch; see IPTV black screen with sound |
The 9 fixes, in order
- Wait 20 seconds and retry. Some channels take a moment to start.
- Try another channel in the same group to see if it is one stream.
- Switch the player engine or decoder. In TiviMate and IPTV Smarters, change between hardware and software decoding in the player settings.
- Lower the output resolution of your stick or box from 4K to 1080p to test.
- Turn off HDR matching or "match dynamic range" for a test.
- Clear the app cache from the device's app settings.
- Update the app and the device software.
- Restart the device and the router. Unplug both for 30 seconds.
- Re-enter your login to rule out an expired or mistyped line.
If every channel is black
Check that your plan is active and that you have not reached your screen limit. Then try mobile data on a phone: if it works there, your home network or ISP may be the problem; see ISP blocking IPTV.
If none of this helps, message @host4k on Telegram with your device, app, the channel name and the exact error. That lets the team check the server side straight away.

IPTV black screen fix: questions and answers
Usually the app's decoder, an HDR or resolution mismatch, or a single stream. Try another channel and switch the player engine.
Restart the device and router, re-enter your login and check your plan is active and not over its screen limit.
Not usually. An expired line normally shows a login or authorization error.
